Impressor – 3.00 Haydock – 6F Handicap – 33/1 Bet365 – 1 Point Each Way.
Originally with Marcus Tregoning, as a 2 year old Impressor certainly impressed in a 6F maiden winning like a Group horse, postmarking 92 in the process.
He ran in Group 2 and Group 3 events and wasn’t disgraced, but as a 3 year old he disappointed connections so was sold on late 2020.
Peter Makin now trains him and started Impressor off slowly with him gradually improving over his first 4 runs this season.
Impressor’s handicap has dropped quickly over the last 7 runs by a mighty 22lbs from a high of 99 to just 75 today and so looks dangerously well handicapped now.
Today he takes a significant drop in class, running in his first class 5 event, when he has previously been used to Group Company or Class 2 & 3 handicaps.
Impressor has shown all his best form with soft in the description so his last outing on good to firm certainly didn’t suit. Whereas he will encounter good/soft today which he will definitely appreciate.
Peter Makin has found his ideal conditions today and applies blinkers for the first time. I see this as a positive as Impressor ran an improved performance in a first time cheekpieces as a 2 year old, indeed that was his best ever run. If the blinkers can help find just a small improvement, then Impressor could blow his rival away.
He currently sits at 33/1 with Bet365 and we have to get involved! I’m recommending 1 point each way.
He still looks value at 14/1.
