We give out a free tip today from Hanbury Racing. See his write up below:
Jewelinthename – 8.10 Uttoxeter – 3m Handicap Hurdle – 40/1 Paddy Power – 5 places – 1.5 points each way.
Neil Mulholland is one of the shrewdest Trainers out there and he has done well to get Jewelinthename handicapped to just 73 over hurdles.
The 6 year old gelding is bred more for 2m 4F to 3 mile trips than 2 mile speed and so it was no surprise to see him finish out the back in his maiden hurdles over the minimum 2 miles.
This has helped hide his ability from the handicapper.
Nevertheless Jewelinthename was still given an initial rating of 87 and it looks like Mulholland has wanted to get some more experience into him and get his mark down a bit by running in two handicap hurdles over two miles.
All these 5 runs were on soft, with one on good/soft. But it’s really interesting that now his mark is down to 73 Mulholland stepped him up to 2m 6F and was due to run 22 May, but Jewelinthename was withdrawn due to unsuitable soft ground!
This tells me everything I need to know insofar that Mulholland is going for a win by stepping him up in trip and wanting good ground.
Well today looks the day, running over 2 miles 4 furlongs and genuine good ground that may quicken a bit by off time.
He is running 1lb out of the handicap off 74 but that 1lb shouldn’t make any difference to his chances, but the market has reacted by putting him up at 40/1 generally!
This looks like a great bet and I’m recommending 1.5 points each way with Paddy Power who offer 5 places.
He still looks value at 14/1 to me!!
