The 10-year-old Trimmers Lane has only run 10 times, which included winning his sole race in a 3-mile Irish point to point.
He moved to the UK after this win and was allocated a handicap mark of 93. Now with Micky Hammond he has run 5 times without getting involved in the finish. He needed his first outing and ran his best race second time out where he was outpaced and stayed on strongly only to be beaten 15 lengths off a mark of 91.
After being pulled up on his next start connections bought him back in trip to 2m 4F which clearly didn’t suit this out and out stayer.
Trimmer Lane has just had the one run this season which was clearly a pipe-opener as he ran over an inadequate 2m 3F and was always struggling to go the pace.
He showed a willingness to chase down the leaders but blew up half a mile out.
Trimmers Lane historically runs his best race second time out and connections are showing intent to take advantage of a reduced mark of 79 by stepping him up to a far more suitable 3 miles and replacing the apprentice jockey with the in-form Conor O’Farrell.
Trimmers Lane has a very high knee action so the soft ground, with more rain forecast, will be ideal for him and will help slow down his rivals. The more it becomes a slog the better his chances.
At 66/1 with Boylesport Trimmers Lane looks tremendous value and I recommend 1 point each way.
