Falak – 8.15 Galway – 2 M Handicap – 28/1 Boylesports – 5 places BOG – 1 point each way.
Falak has been in sound form over hurdles recently and had previously excelled on the flat with two authoritative wins on the all- weather off marks of 54 and 60.
This was a return to form for Falak who had previously reached in the 80’s on the flat when trained in the UK.
Falak acts round Galway having won a hurdle race and also ran well finishing 7th of 18 runners in a 2 mile handicap at the 2019 Galway festival. That was off 76 and so he must have a chance here off 66 especially with the very good claimer Dylan Browne McMonagle taking off a valuable 3lb netting his mark down to 63.
He is well drawn in stall 3 and as long as he gets a reasonable prominent position, he is in with an excellent chance at odds of 28/1 with Boylesports.
I therefore recommend 1 point each way.
He is still value at 16/1.
Sods Law – 7.15 Galway – 1m Handicap – 33/1 Boyles – 5 places – BOG – 1 point each way.
The 6 year old Sods Law was originally trained in the UK by Hughie Morrison and managed two good wins over 1 mile postmarking a high of 91 on good/soft ground.
He was sold onto Irish connections, but his form dipped in 2020 which saw him run down the field on 6 occasions.
Sods Law bounced back to form on his first run in 2021 where he finished a fine 4th of 16. He didn’t back that up when stepped up to 1m 2F, nor on his latest start at Leopardstown.
There is hope for a big run here as he is back over his optimum trip of 1 mile, in a good draw, and has been dropped to his lowest ever mark of 62. He will be getting his ideal softish going and connections have added a cheekpieces just to liven him up.
He is no forlorn hope here and at 33/1 with Boylesports who offer 5 places and best odds guaranteed he represents huge value.
I therefore recommend 1 point each way.
He is still value at 20/1
