Hanbury Racing Tips – 6 August 2021

Hi,

Please see below my two tips for today, prices correct at 4.34am:

Green Power – 7.38 Newmarket – 6F Handicap – 25/1 Bet365 – 1 Point Each Way.

Green Power is of particular interest today after showing his first bit of form this season on his latest start where he led and only went down by 2 lengths, staying on nicely.

That was his 5th start of the year and had previously looked out of sorts. His four poor runs has seen him drop 16lb in the handicap from 94 to 78 and considering his three winning handicap marks were off 94, 94 & 96 (all Class 2) he now looks dangerously well handicapped.

He has spent his whole career running in Class 2 handicaps, Listed and Group races, so this Class 3 handicap will certainly be a far easier assignment.

Dancinginthewoods and Abate are last time out winners and I hugely respect their chances, but Green Power is the well handicapped class dropper and has run well twice at Newmarket (albeit the Rowley course) and will handle the undulations.

Green Power is only 6 years old, so really should be at his peak in sprinting terms. Hopefully his troubled start to the year is now behind him and he can build on the promise of his latest start.

Hector Crouch has won on him before and the forecast rain is very much in his favour.

The market has him overpriced at a surprising 25/1 with Bet365 (BOG) and we have to take advantage in this 7 runner race.

I’m recommending 1 point each way with Bet365.

Green Power is still value at 12/1.

Getback In Paris – 7.30 Tipperary – 1m 4F Handicap – 20/1 Boyles – 1 Point Each Way.

The 8 year old Getback In Paris was originally based in France, postmarking a high of 90 and moved over to the UK with Richard Hughes.

He ran consistently well in 2017 between 1m 2F and 1m 6F winning off 89 on good/soft before finishing a highly creditable 5th in the Ceasarewitch off 94.

Getback In Paris has then suffered a series of bad injuries which meant he only raced once in almost 4 years.

He has been nursed back to health by the small trainer John F O’Neill and has managed to get him racing this year. Initially 3 runs over hurdles then back over the flat for another 4 starts.

It has taken all these runs to get him fit and well and it was on his last start that he showed form for the first time, in a 1m 1.5F claimer where he only went down by 1.5 lengths.

That trip was on the short side for him, and the ground was too quick, so now he steps up to 1m 4F improvement is very much on the cards.

The ground is currently good to yielding and there is up to almost 7mm of rain due during the day, every drop that falls will just increase his chances. I’m expecting it to soft by the off.

At 20/1 Getback In Paris looks a fair each way play with Boylesports who pay 5 places and BOG.

However I’m expecting him to drift as the trainer is not a gambling stable, so please make sure you get on best odds guaranteed. He could get as big as 50/1 but is still value at 16/1.

I recommend 1 point each way.
