Hanbury Racing Tips – 11 August 2021

Hi,

Please see my tip for Wednesday:

Ingenuity – 8.25 Kempton – 1m 4F Handicap – 40/1 Bet365 – 1 Point Each Way.

This 9 runner handicap is dominated in the market by Heath Rise who finished a close second recently at Windsor on good ground, with a 5 length gap to the third placed runner. He is running quickly as he is about to go up 3lb in the handicap, so has an obvious chance in this average 9 runner handicap.

At even money he is terrible value, and I am taking him on with 40/1 Ingenuity.

This 6 year old has been primarily running over hurdles the last couple of seasons. Prior to that he achieved a far level on the flat with Jedd O’Keefe where he postmarked a high of 87, with other multiple runs in the 80’s.

He was then trained with Gordon Elliot in Ireland (when hurdling) and is now with Brian Barr’s team. It was no surprise to see Ingenuity’s mark drop since he has been with Barr’s team, they are not the most prolific outfit and would be happy to see Ingenuity’s handicap mark drop in both jumps and flat disciplines.

Ingenuity started to run better over hurdles in recent months, which coincided with the addition of headgear, which is retained today. He now makes a return to the flat over this 1m 4F which should suit him as he finished a good second to Cogital last season off a mark of 62 and gets in here off just 57.

Ingenuity likes a fast surface, so the polytrack surface shou;d suit. He has previously postmarked 80 on tapeta which also makes me optimistic.

At odds of 40/1 we can make the each way play, I therefore recommend 1 point each way with Bet365.

He is still value at 20/1.
