Media Guest – 5.00 Yarmouth – 6F Handicap – 6/1 Paddy Power
The Newmarket trainer George Margarson has a good record on this card over the years and he looks to have sent a young potentially progressive horse to run in an all age sprint handicap.
Media Guest has only run 4 times, three in maidens and once on his latest start on his handicap debut.
Media Guest looked to run well on his first two maiden starts postmarking 70 and 73, this was despite running green. However he was clearly inhibited by breathing problems as he was given a wind operation before he ran on his third maiden outing. These first two runs can therefore be marked up and considering he gets in here off 71 he looks very well handicapped indeed!
He was given 165 days off before running in his final maiden, but this time he was very coltish, becoming unruly and unsteerable around Chelmsford’s bend and trailed in last. He was unsurprisingly gelded after this run.
Another 116 day passed before he made his handicap debut in a 3 year old only 6F sprint and he was easy to back, but ran a promising race, dwelling and being held up behind horses and travelling strongly, before getting impeded before switching and running on to finish a close 5th.
That was a strong race as the winner has gone on to rattle up a hattrick and the third also won next time out.
Media Guest was dropped a pound for that run down to 71 and with everything that has gone on he must be a better horse than that mark. I would think he will get at least in the 90’s and we can take advantage now he has been switched to an all age handicap where most horses are exposed.
He looks to have an obvious and strong chance, especially on a straight track which will suit him and negate any potential steering issues going round a bend!!
At 6/1 with Paddy Power he looks a big price for his chances, and I therefore recommend a 2 point win.
He still looks value at 7/2.
