Hanbury Racing – 8 September 2020

Hi,

Please see my two tips for Wednesday’s racing:

Nana Patsy – 7.20 Cork – 7F Handicap – Skybet –  5 Places – 1 Point Each Way.

John C McConnell tends to get a lot of improvement from his horses when they go handicapping and the 3 year old filly Nana Patsy is one I’m expecting to take a big step forward today.

She really took the eye on her debut when she fell out of the stalls over 5F and was way out the back but stayed on strongly to finish 4th. She only postmarked 35 that day but looked sure to progress over further.

She showed improvement on her next start over 6F, getting out ok and running in the midfield before running green and getting outpaced before staying on steadily under a hands and heels ride.

Nana Patsy was brought back to 5F (always a good sign the Trainer wants to just gain experience and gain a good low mark) for her final maiden outing on heavy ground and unsurprisingly took no part in the finish.

Those runs were all as a 2 year old and she made her belated seasonal handicap debut off a mark of 55 just over a week ago where she was give the worst of the draw in stall 18 and was given a nice run out. Being slowly away and wide in rear and running on over the 7F to finish in midfield.

That will have put her spot on for today and now she gets a plum draw in stall 2 I think connections will be very much hoping she can win or run very well.

At 20/1 with Skybet, who offer 5 places, Nana Patsy looks a good bet.

She still look value at 12/1.

Bullsempire – 1.30 Uttoxeter – 2m 7F Handicap Hurdle – 66/1 Skybet – 4 places – 1 Point Each Way.

The 8 year old Bullsempire started life in Point to Points winning twice over 3 miles on good and good/firm going.

He went under rules in 2019 and ran well in a NH flat race and maiden hurdles where he postmarked a high of 100 up to 2m 4F.

He didn’t progress when he returned to action in 2020 where he had two bad runs. But his breathing must have been troubling him as he had a wind op soon after.

Bullsempire didn’t run on the deep winter ground, but instead had an outing in an All Weather Jumper Bumper where he ran well to a postmark of 103.

Upon his return to jumps action things haven’t gone to plan. He has been pulled up twice, but this doesn’t completely surprise me as he can be a moody horse and spits his dummy out on occasions.

On his last start he went right handed which didn’t suit him as he jumped out to his left, so will be much suited to today’s lefthanded Uttoxeter track. He did show plenty of zest in that last race over a trip much too short for him and unsurprisingly was out paced and tired on the second circuit.

That was his first run for 3 months and will have blown the cobwebs away and I like that they now step him up in trip to a much more suitable 2m 7F. He is 7lb out of the handicap, but the very capable Tabitha Worsley takes off 5lb so negates most of the overweight.

Even being out of the weights Bullsempire looks very well handicapped off 74 (which includes Tabitha’s 5lb allowance) as he has postmarked 100 in the not so distant past.

I think the step up in trip will help Bullsempire race within his comfort zone for the first time under rules and will travel and jump sweeter going left handed on ground he will relish.

Bullsempire is one of those horses that does pull up regularly, but then does run other strong races, so with conditions now in his favour we will hopefully see a good run.

At 66/1 with Skybet who also offer 4 places in this 10 runner field.

He still looks value at 20/1.
