Hi,
Please see below my three tips for Wednesday’s racing – Good luck!
Prince Khurram – 3.25 Kelso – 2m 2F Handicap Hurdle – 22/1 Skybet 4 Places – 1 Point Each Way.
I put up Prince Khurram last time out when he ran his first run of the season. It was a good run with him holding every chance coming into the home straight, but he just blew up and the lack of a run cost him.
That was 22 days ago, and he should come on nicely for this.
The ground and trip are both good and the handicapper has dropped him another 5lb to 97 and the stable 10lb claimer Peter Kavanagh is back on board.
He must go close, and we can get 22/1 with Skybet who go 4 places in this 11 runner event.
Prince is still value at 12/1.
See my previous write up below for further pointers.
Prince Khurram – 3.40 Bangor – 2 Mile Handicap Hurdle – 50/1 Boyles – 4 places – 1 Point Each Way.
Donald McCain is the top trainer at Bangor and always targets plenty of winners at the track.
Although he has plenty of short priced winners it’s not unusual for him to score with the odd big priced winner and Prince Khurram looks to have enough going for him to be of interest today at juicy odds of 50/1.
Prince Khurram has run 12 times at Bangor winning three and placing in three, so has a 50% place rate at the track. His wins have been off 100, 107 and 112.
He is 11 now so has become more lightly raced, but it’s very noticeable that he always seems to hit form around mid-August and the Bank Holiday weekend, so this is very much his time of year.
He is coming off a break into this race but has run well when fresh before and will enjoy the good ground and optimum 2 mile trip.
He runs here off 102, virtually his lowest ever hurdling mark, but what makes him even more interesting is the use of the stable apprentice claimer, Peter Kavanagh, who can claim 10lb. Peter is a decent looking apprentice who is going to do well in the game and with his claim he nets Prince’s mark down to a very attractive 92. (Peter has won 3 from 26 starts and placed 30% of the time).
With it being his time of year he is just too big at 50/1 to ignore and I’m recommending 1 point each way with Boylesports – 4 places.
He still looks value at 20/1.
Grey Atlantic Way – 6.30 Kelso – 2m 2F Handicap Hurdle – 33/1 Skybet – 4 places – 1 Point Each Way.
It looks like Grey Atlantic Way has enjoyed the change of scenery, having moved from Ireland to Danny Brooke’s yard. He ran a really promising race on his seasonal debut 20 days ago, being settled in rear and staying on before blowing up. He wasn’t given a hard time at all.
That run will have put him spot on for today as it also cements the confidence in his wind after having a breathing operation during his break.
He was only beaten 17 lengths under cosy handling and the handicapper has given him a real chance dropping him 10lb to just 84.
Grey Atlantic Way has postmarked an Irish high of 109 in the past and so he looks really well handicapped today.
The very good Henry Brooke takes the ride and I’m expecting him to have every chance here and at 33/1 with Skybet who go 4 places in this 11 runner affair.
He still looks value at 16/1.
Convara – 2.40 Sligo – 2m 1F Handicap Hurdle – 33/1 Skybet – 4 Places -1 Point Each Way.
The 7 year old Convara has run three times over hurdles this year and been just midfield on each occasion. They weren’t bad runs he’s just been let down by his jumping, skying his hurdles and looking in desperate need to go back over chases.
I put him up first time out this season because his hurdle mark was lower than his chase mark. But his jumping technique is very much made for chasing so I’m really happy Convara is back over the bigger obstacles.
With only 6 runs over chases he is still unexposed and with a win at Galway, where he postmarked 130 there is every chance, he is much better than his current 118 handicap mark.
They tried him in two Grade 3 Chases where he ran well only losing by 14 lengths to the classy Galvin. That was over 2m 4F which also stretched his stamina.
I feel he is nicely handicapped and fit enough to be very competitive and the 5lb claim from Liam Quinlan will just help take a valuable few pounds off his back.
At 33/1 with Skybet, who offer 4 places in this 11 runner race he is a very good each way play, and I recommend 1 point each way.
He is still value at 20/1.
