Hanbury Racing – 12 October 2021

Hi,

Please see my two picks for Tuesday:

Miami Present – 4.15 Huntingdon – 2m 7F Handicap Chase – 11/1 Paddy Power – 1 Point Each Way.

Miami Present is a winner of 4 races, including 3 chases from marks between 103 and 117, all on good ground.

His wins have all been on flat tracks, so today’s Huntingdon course will be ideal for him.

He had 3 years out due to injury and returned to action last season where he was nursed back to health. He managed to stand his racing but took quite a while to show any form.

Consequently over the last 10 runs his mark has dropped from 117 to just 77.

Today connections have switched to blinkers from his regular cheekpieces and that worked for him once last year where he ran one of his best races postmarking 95 from a mark of 104.

If he can replicate that postmark of 95 today, then he should win this running off a handicap mark of 77.

The ex-champion jockey Brian Hughes is an eye catching jockey booking and so the 11/1 on offer with Paddy Power must be snapped up.

I recommend 1 point each way.

He is still value at 8/1.

Present Destiny – 2.13 Hereford – 2m 5F Handicap Hurdle – 22/1 Skybet- 4 Places – 1 Point Each Way.

This race wont take much winning as most of the field are badly out of form with many of then dropping significantly in the handicap.

Having said that there could be a wide margin winner if one of these disappointing types bounces back to form.

I feel Present Destiny is the one that has the most potential at the price to regain his form.

He was originally trained by Seamus Mullins where he ran twice promisingly in National Hunt flat races (including a Listed Race) and a series of decent races on goodish ground over 2 miles and 2m 4F postmarking a high of 113.

The wheels came off when he was injured and where he missed two years and changed stables to the very good Emma Lavelle.

Considering the two year absence you would have expected him to go off at long prices but instead there was massive market confidence and in a 14 runner handicap he went off 4/1 second favourite off a mark of 94 but disappointed and was pulled up.

In his next two starts he was still positive in the market but didn’t show anything on the track.

The issue may well have been his breathing as he was subsequently given a wind op.

He returned to action recently with the stables 10lb claimer on board which looked very much like a pipe opener and confidence booster for his breathing.

He should come on for that run today and connections have brought in the stables top jockey Tom Bellamy for the ride.

Present Destiny is now down to just 77 and gets his good ground that he enjoys so at 22/1 with Skybet who offer 4 places in this 13 runner field.

He is still value at 12/1.
