Hanbury Racing – 7 November 2021

Hi

Please see my one tip for Sunday:

Fraughan Hill – 1.35 Sandown – 2m Novice Hurdle – 80/1 – Sky/BetfairSB/William Hill – 1 Point Each Way.

This maiden hurdle has some solid looking newcomers who have run fairly well in National Hunt flat races, but there doesn’t appear to have any superstars lining up.

It’s noticeable the first 5 in the market are all having there first start to the season and so when combining that with lack of jumping experience it could we be that many wont run up to market expectations.

Consequently it may give an opportunity to Fraughan Hill to put his race fitness and experience to good use.

The gelding ran in three Point To Points and acquitted himself well on his last run when finishing a close 8 length 3rd behind My Immortal and Fruit and Nut who have both recently gone on to postmark around 126.

Fraughan Hill made his hurdling and seasonal debut recently over 2 miles where he travelled far to freely and went 20 lengths clear before tiring in the last half mile.

It was a highly likeable performance as he jumped slickly throughout and despite blowing up and burning himself out still postmarked 86.

That was also his first start after a wind operation, and he will have gained a lot of confidence from the outing.

Based on Fraughan Hills’ run behind My Immortal you could make a case that he should be able to run around the 115 – 120 mark and that may well be enough to win today’s race. Especially when you factor in, he is likely to go off in front and set a good pace which will put the other jumping and fitness under more scrutiny.

They may also underestimate his chances and let him slip the field and with Caoilin Quinn claiming off another 7lb there are more reasons for optimism.

It may well be that one or two of the market leaders may have too much improvement in them, but the fact we can back Fraughan Hill at 80/1 for 3 places with Skybet, Betfair Sportsbook or William Hill makes him a tasty each way play. I very much feel he can win this.

He is still value at 20/1.
