Hi,
Please see my two tips for Tuesday:
Ace Time – 2.30 Huntingdon – 2m 4.5F Handicap – 100/1 Paddy Power/Sky/William Hill – 1 Point Each Way.
The trainer of Ace Time, J R Jenkins has been around a long time and has never been the most prolific of trainers, but he does get some big priced winners throughout the year, so I’m happy to give his runners a second look.
The 7 year old Ace Time catches my eye, he has run some sound National Hunt Flat races, on three occasions postmarking around 100, with his highest mark being 101.
He hasn’t produced that level over hurdles yet. His 3 maiden hurdles races were very much educational rides where he was novicey, green and outpaced, so probably needed further.
Ace Time looked like he would progress once going handicapping, but connections reached for headgear early which made him race too keenly and despite being stepped up in trip didn’t see it out over 3 miles.
Ace Time returned to action this season with a pleasing run where his jumping was much more slick and he looked to be travelling well until blowing up 4F out.
That run really told me Ace Time has ability and is improving but just needs better fitness to do himself justice.
I’m hopeful he will strip fitter for todays action and be able to give a good account of himself.
Ace Time is only rated 66 over hurdles so has to run from 9lb out of the handicap off a mark of 74 but that doesn’t bother me one little bit. He has the benefit of a good claimer in Ben Godfrey who takes off a valuable 5lb which nets his mark down to 69.
But by far the most important factor is his proven ability in NH Flat races which demonstrates he can rate much higher than 74 over hurdles.
The market has completely discounted Ace High at 100/1 and consequently we have to get involved early here so I’m recommending 1 point each way with Sky/Paddy Power/William Hill who all offer 4 places in this 13 runner race.
Eurowork – 1.22 Hereford – 3m 1F Handicap Chase – 50/1 Paddy Power/Sky/William Hill – 1 Point Each Way.
The 7 year old Eurowork is a fascinating runner in this 3m 1f handicap chase. As a 4 and 5 year old he started his career in Irish Points winning a 3 mile point by making all defeating Mercury Lane who is now rated 125. This wasn’t his only good run before he moved to the UK.
Eurowork ran fairly well in novice hurdles, finishing second and 4th on right handed tracks of Exeter and Wincanton postmarking 104 both times. One of these runs was over 2m 5F and he showed real stamina to stay on after being outpaced. For me this marked him down as a real stayer in the making who was certainly built like a staying chaser.
This was borne out as Eurowork was sent chasing as soon as he was given a handicap mark of 108 and stepped up to 3 mile.
Unfortunately his three runs last year over chases were not fruitful. He jumped well enough but tailed off on his first start and despite being fitted with a tongue tie on his next start and visor on his third he was pulled up on both runs.
This must have been very disappointing for connections.
This season he has returned to action with a run oyer hurdles where he was out the back and just popped round before getting out paced. The jockey gave him a strong enough ride near the end of the race (despite being well in rear) to suggest this was a pipe opener for the season.
Today Eurowork returns to chases and has been stepped up to 3m 1F for the first time which is a real bonus to his chances.
What more good news is his return to a right handed track as his point to point and two good novice hurdle runs were going that way round. I have studied his videos and he definitely has a tendency to jump out to his right. With his galloping racing style going the right way round will make a massive difference to his performance.
Eurowork also won on good ground and his action suggests he prefers better ground so to get fast ground today is a real bonus.
He runs off a mark of 95 today and he can definitely win off that mark based upon his novice hurdle runs and Point To Point win against a 125 rated horse.
All in all he looks a sound bet at 50/1 with Paddy Power/Sky/William Hill and I recommend 1 point each way.
He is still value at 14/1
