Hanbury Racing – 22 November 2021

Hi,

Please see below my three tips for Monday:

Penpal – 1.00 Ayr – 2 Mile Handicap Hurdle – 80/1 Sky, Paddy Power, Betfair – 4 places – 1 Point Each Way.

I put up Penpal last time out on his seasonal debut (see the previous write up in red below), but he was just out for the run and was never put in the race.

That was over 2m 4F and he is brought back to 2 miles which I think will really suit him.

Last season, in a novice hurdle, he was backed in from 80/1 into 18/1 and went off in front with him only headed in the last furlong.

Since then he has always been held up and I’m hoping they revert to these positive tactics as there are no front runners in todays field and he could set his own fractions.

He is really well handicapped off 99 and with that that run under his belt we have to get involved again as he is 80/1 with Sky, Paddy Power and Betfair Sportsbook.

I therefore recommend 1 point each way.

He is still value at 25/1.

Penpal – 3.40 Wetherby – 2m 4F Handicap Hurdle – 66/1 Paddy Power – 4 Places – 1 Point Each Way

Penpal started his career in France and ran some sound races in his maidens at Auteuil, France’s premier jumps track, postmarking 110 and 115, before winning a 2m 4F maiden at Pau postmarking 120.

He moved to the UK with Micky Hammond and started out on what looked a fair UK mark of 125, but he didn’t run to his French form for all of his 5 UK starts.

Penpal looks interesting today as it may well have been he needed time to settle into his new surroundings or may had a niggle that was holding him back.

What we do know from his previous form is that he goes well fresh, including his win that came off a 215 break.

Today he runs after 214 days off, and I’d like to think whatever was stopping him from running his races last season are now ironed out.

Penpal races off an adjusted mark of just 103 and gets in here off bottom weight. He will get his preferred soft ground and Wetherby’s flat track is similar to Auteuil so he should enjoy the track.

This is a competitive race, but no other horse is as well handicapped as Penpal and at 66/1 with Paddy Power who offer 4 places he looks a cracking each way bet.

He still looks value at 25/1.

Blackthirtyone – 6.30 Chelmsford – 5F Handicap – 20/1 888, Boyles and Bet365 (33/1) – 1 Point Each Way.

I also put up Blackthirtyone last time (read the write up below) and he again ran far to free, and his jockey expended most of his energy trying to hold on to him to see out the 6F.

Today I think it will be a different story, he has been brought back to 5F and has the visor fitted and I think he will be allowed to blast off at his own fast pace and see if he can see out the 5F.

He ran well at Chelmsford over 7F where he led only to be swallowed up 1F out. That was off a mark of 60 and he postmarked 53. Today he is down to just 50 which gives him every chance if the distance can just slightly improve him.

At 20/1 with 888 and Boyles and 33/1 with Bet365 he looks a good each way bet, and I recommend 1 point each way.

He is still value at 14/1.

Blackthirtyone – 5.23 Yarmouth – 6F Handicap – 33/1 Bet365 – 4 Places – 1 Point Each Way.

Adam West’s 3 year old Blackthirtyone has only raced 4 times so is very unexposed and still learning his job.

He ran over 7F and 6F in his maidens and ran freely showing speed and greenness.

It looks like his opening handicap mark of 60 was a fair one as on his handicap debut over 7F he was smartly away and led the field, kicking for home and only getting swallowed up in the final furlong where he was then eased.

He did hold his head a little high and I like that connections now add cheekpieces which should help him relax, focus and improve his performance.

The drop back to 6F today is a good move and Robert Havlin is an excellent jockey booking for the stable. Havlin doesn’t have many rides for Adam west and has won for them from only 5 rides last year.

On breeding the cut in the ground will hold no fears and with Blackthirtyones dad, Gregorian finishing 3rd in a July Cup and being out of a Pivotal mare the trip and conditions will suit nicely.

We can back Blackthirtyone at 33/1 with Bet365 for 4 places and I recommend 1 point each way.

He is still value at 16/1.

Parallel World 4.30 Chelmsford – 1 Mile Handicap – 66/1 Paddy Power, BetVictor, Betfair Sportsbook – 4 Places – 1 Point Each Way.

The 5 year old Parallel World is bred for the all-weather and looks every bit a synthetic specialist.

He has run 5 times on turf and never placed, but on his 11 starts on synthetics he has won 3 and placed in 4.

He is still relatively lightly raced and has suffered a breathing issue in the past, so I feel there is still more to come from him on the all-weather.

He came back from a summer break with two runs on turf and ran down the field, but I don’t mind that. Now that he returns to the all-weather, he looks much more interesting.

That’s especially the case in a first time visor as he won in first time cheek-pieces, so it just might be they help spark him into life.

Parallel World has a great draw in stall 1 and can bag a prominent position on the inside rail and whilst he still has to prove himself on the poly track surface his mum won on it, so that gives me every confidence.

At 66/1 with Paddy Power, BetVictor and Betfair Sportsbook he looks big value and I therefore recommend 1 point each way.

He is still value at 25/1.
