Hanbury Racing – 3 December 2021

Hi

Please see my two tips for Friday:

The Late Legend – 3.15 Exeter – 3 Mile 6F Handicap Chase – 18/1 Paddy Power, BetVictor Betfair Sportsbook – 1 Point Each Way – 5 places.

This is one of the classic marathon staying chases of the season and I love trying to solve this puzzle!

I like the look of The Late Legend; he is a second season chaser who showed plenty of improvement last year starting over 2m and winning 5 races when stepped up 3 miles and 3m 2F.

He looked like an out and out stayer and moving up to 3m 6F for the first time today should unlock further improvement.

He had jumped out to his right when winning round left handed tracks and today’s Exeter right handed configuration should really suit.

The Late Legend won 5 out of 12 chasers and placed in a further 3. But he doesn’t have as much natural scope as you would expect so it’s no surprise to see him win at tracks where the fences and smaller and easier. It’s therefore good news that Exeter’s fences are on the easy side.

The Late Legend has had two runs over hurdles this year which look like pipe openers to the season and his mark has dropped back to his last winning mark. Now he goes back chasing and up in trip he looks to have strong claims.

At 20/1 with Paddy Power, BetVictor and Betfair Sportsbook, who offer 5 places, he looks a great each way play, and I recommend 1 point each way.

He still looks value at 14/1.

Fahad – 1.05 Sedgefield – 2 Mile 1F Handicap Hurdle – 50/1 Paddy Power, Betfair Sportsbook and BetVictor – 1 Point Each Way.

Danny Brooke is finding his feet as a trainer after taking over from his mum, Julie Brooke two years ago.

What’s been very clear is that all his winners have come when his brother Henry Brooke is jocked up, so I’m really glad to see him in the plate today.

Fahad has only run 4 times over jumps, prior to that he was originally on the flat for Roger Varian where he postmarked a high of 78.

Danny Brooke put blinkers on Fahad for his latest flat runs and this brought about improvement, however in his 4 jumps previous runs they have been omitted.

It’s different story today and now he has some jumping experience this combined with the blinkers should see a much improved run.

At 50/1 he looks a cracking each way play, and I therefore recommend 1 point each way.

He is still value at 20/1
