Please see my one tip for today:
Room At The Top – 3.00 Kelso – 2 Mile Novice Hurdle – 200/1 Bet365, Coral, Ladbrokes BOG – 3 Places- 1 Point Each Way.
There is Nicky Richard’s odds on favourite who won on his hurdling debut postmarking 121and even allowing for a7lb penalty looks well clear on ratings.
The rest look a pretty sorry old bunch, who will struggle to postmark near 100. The second favourite took a horrible fall on his hurdling debut when a beaten 3rd and I’d be really surprised if that didn’t leave it’s mark and the third favourite hasn’t run for nearly 600 days and has a postmark high of 87.
This looks ripe for a longshot to get involved with the placings and the one I like at huge odds is Room At The Top.
This Godolphin bred colt made a pleasing NH flat debut running green and staying on to postmark 85.
He was given wind surgery after this run but must have had a problem as he was off the track for a year before finishing down the field on his second NH flat run. He stayed on nicely from the rear, so this was another promising effort.
More problems struck as he was off for two years before he made his hurdling debut over 2m 6F. He would have needed the run here but to me it was an eye catching run. He unsurprisingly ran fresh and free for the first mile and was held up by his rider. During the race I was taken by how slickly he hurdled and travelled sweetly in midfield before getting tired late on.
Today he comes back to 2 miles which will suit, and Craig Nichol takes the ride, and a tongue tie is added to help his breathing.
These are positive signs, and he should come on a bundle for his first run.
With such a great hurdling technique and having postmarked 85 in NH flat races there is every reason to feel he can postmark 100+ which would give him every chance to place here and at 200/1 with Bet365, Ladbrokes and Corals who go best odds guaranteed he looks a good each way play.
You should never be afraid of one horse, so if the favourite disappoints a win here is not out of the question.
I therefore recommend 1 point each way.
He is still value at 66/1.
