Remember the Man – 2.55 Huntingdon – 2m 3.5F Handicap Hurdle – 17/2 Skybet – 1 point each way – 4 places.
If I were the Owner of Remember The Man, considering his ability, I’d be pretty gutted at only winning one flat race over 2 miles off a mark of 74.
The horse came over from France having run to a fair level on the flat and continued that form to postmark a high of 82 over 2 miles.
He moved to Neil King’s yard in 2019 and went hurdling. To date he remains a maiden after 15 hurdle starts, primarily over 2 miles.
The amazing thing for me is that connections have continually said Remember The Man wants fast ground, yet in his last 12 runs, 9 of them have been on soft or worse, with a further two on the all-weather. The only time he had good ground was a seasonal pipe-opener when he wasn’t fit!
It almost seems connections are avoiding the ground he needs! Consequently Remember The Man looks well handicapped over hurdles off just 98.
I’m interested today as he finally gets the good ground he has been craving and Bryony Frost, the stables No 1 jockey is riding. They have also stepped him up to a much more suitable 2m 3.5F.
Rukwa is the big danger at the head of the market, but these shrewd connections have already won twice on the horse and they prefer to win at bigger prices. He is therefore worth taking on.
Remember The Man is 17/2 with Skybet, who offer 4 places in this 12 runner event and that looks a rock solid play. I therefore recommend 1 point each way.
