Hi,
Please see my three selections for Saturday’s racing:
Obey The Rules – 3.55 Market Rasen – 2m 3F Handicap Hurdle – 25/1 Bet365 – 1.5 Points Each Way.
Donald McCain sources many of his horses through Point To Points and Obey The Rules looks another recruit that will pay his way in handicaps.
Obey The Rules came second in a 3 mile point, postmarking 86 and moved to Donald’s yard where he then ran in his mandatory 3 maiden hurdles. These were all over 2 miles where he ran with credit and looks an obvious improver when stepping up in trip.
Obey The Rules had his first start of the season recently and moved straight over chases for his 2 mile handicap debut off a more than fair opening mark of 86.
He jumped athletically and is a natural over the big obstacles, but he blew up three out and unsurprisingly was outpaced at the business end.
He should come on bundles for that first run and with the step up to 2m 3F very much in his favour he looks to have a great chance of significant improvement.
The handicapper has dropped him 4lb to 82 and I think he has a great chance.
I cant believe Bet365 have opened up 25/1 and we have to act fast to take advantage of a very generous price. I recommend 1.5 points each way.
He is still value at 8/1.
Orchestrated – 4.40 Stratford – 2m 6.5F Handicap Chase – 66/1 BetVictor – 1 Point Each Way.
PLEASE NOTE I WILL ONLY BE CLAIMING 33/1 AGAINST THIS SELECTION AS THE PRICE MOVED SIGNIFICANTLY AS I EMAILED THE SELECTION TO OUR PREMIUM SUBSCRIBERS
Is a winner of three handicap chases off marks between 91 and 95 and has been as high as 105, with a postmark best of 109.
Orchestra was originally owned and trained by Lady Susan Brooke whose daughter Lorna used to care and ride all her horses. Unfortunately, Lorna was sadly killed when falling from Orchestrated last year. Lorna loved her horses and her family have retained ownership of Orchestrated and I’m very sure they will be trying their utmost to win with the horse in Lorna’s memory.
After Orchestrated’s fall in April he changed yards to Max Young, a new trainer.
He had his first run recently in September where he clouted the first and the jockey lost his irons so pulled him up immediately. On his second out he was given a quiet confidence boosting ride. Normally he goes out in front/races prominently, but this time was settled in rear and popped his fences until staying on well only losing by 14 lengths.
That tells me he is well in himself and with a more prominent ride and coming on for the run should see him in with a good chance.
He is nicely weighted off 87 and there wont be a dry eye in the house if he can win it.
At 66/1 he is an absolutely huge price and must be backed each way in what is a very winnable race.
He is still value at 16/1.
Sticky Situation – 5.15 Stratford – 2m Handicap Hurdle – 66/1 Bet365 – 1 Point Each Way.
The 10 year old Sticky Situation spent the majority of his career in Ireland and whilst he did not win a race he ran to a fair standard, postmarking an Irish high of 116 (circa 125 in UK terms).
He has had unusual career as he has raced 25 times, but 9 of these were National Hunt Flat races and a further 9 maiden hurdle races.
He clearly enjoyed good ground as he was always campaigned in the summer months.
Connections must have felt he could win a maiden hurdle, but the Irish racing is so competitive this didn’t happen, and he was sold onto new UK connections.
Sticky Situation started in the UK on a mark of 116 and he was sent handicapping, but bizarrely he has raced solely on unsuitable soft or heavy ground for all 6 outings.
As a consequence his handicap mark has now dropped from 116 to 93 and he now looks weighted to win a race when conditions are in his favour.
He raced in Ireland with a tongue tie for many races, but since he moved to the UK this has also been conspicuous with its absence.
This is a ladies Pro-am race, and the good jockeys will make a significant difference and in Jo Supple we have an experienced multiple winning point to point jockey who is also 3 wins from just 7 rides under rules. We are really lucky she can also claim a valuable 7lb.
Today Sticky Situation looks really interesting as conditions are very much in his favour. The ground is good, and he looks really well handicapped running off a net 86, which is a career low mark and some 30lb below his best postmark.
The tongue tie is back on, and a real statement of positive intent is the application of first time cheekpieces.
The one drawback is the lack of a recent run, he hasn’t raced since January, so we have to take fitness on trust. But he has ran with credit on previous seasonal debuts and with the headgear all applied today this does give me confidence connections are going for a big run.
I hope that’s the case as we can back Stick Situation at massive odds of 66/1 with Bet365 in what is just a 9 runner race.
I therefore recommend 1 point each way with Bet365, best odds guaranteed.
He is still value at 20/1.
