Hi,
Please see my two tips below for Friday:
Jems Bond – 8.07 Newcastle – 7F Handicap Hurdle – 12/1 Paddy Power –1 Point Each Way.
I put up Jems Bond back in May where he returned to Newcastle’s 6F sprint track and ran an extraordinary race, rearing at the start losing 10 lengths but still staying on through the field to only be beaten a length.
That was off a mark of 58 and he didn’t go on after this. He stayed on from the rear in another 6F event at Carlisle, before stepping up to a 1 mile, where he didn’t see out the trip.
On his latest start they put the blinkers on and went from the front over 7F, but he faded. The horse was just too lit up that day, so I’m really glad they have taken off the headgear and dropped Jems Bond back to this 7F trip.
Running over 7F without head gear might be exactly what Jems Bond needs (or a strongly run 6F), but what we do know is that he really likes Newcastle’s straight course and the tapeta surface.
Jems Bond runs off 54 today, so he looks on the right side of the handicapper and at 12/1 with Paddy Power, who offer 4 places, we are getting a great price on a horse that should really be a 7/1 shot.
I therefore recommend 1 point each way.
Rue De La Gaite – 5.35 Newcastle – 1m 2F Handicap – 40/1 Bet365 – 1 Point Each Way.
As her name suggests Rue De La Gaite originally raced in France and was a winner of two races including an easy 3 length winner of a 1m 2F Handicap where she postmarked 73.
She arrived in Britain with Tom Clover and ran 7 times but didn’t win for him, however she still postmarked over 70 four times (70, 72, 74 and 78).
She is a hold up horse but with connections getting impatient for a win they tried her in blinkers from the front, but she didn’t enjoy the experience, fading early on.
Rue De La Gaite was sold on, moving to Katie Scots yard and she has given just the one run over 1m 4F, which is too far for the horse, but that will have blown a few cobwebs away (after a 60 day break) and she should now be ready to take a step forward.
Katie Scott is also in good recent form with her 3 runners in the last 14 days finishing a 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
This bodes well for Rue De La Gaite chances today as her mark is down to just 62 and she can drop in to a Class 6 handicap for the first time after operating in Class 4 & 5s previously. If she can reproduce one of her positive 70+ efforts she will win, or worst case place.
William Carver is a good jockey and his 3lb claimer is just the icing on the cake.
At 40/1 with Bet365 she looks a fantastic each way play, and I recommend 1 point each way.
She still looks value at 20/1.
