Hanbury Racing – 21 September 2021

Hi,

Please see my two tips for Tuesday:

Rue De La Gaite – 6.50 Newcastle – 1m 2F Handicap – 28/1 Skybet – 5 Places – 1 Point Each Way.

As her name suggests Rue De La Gaite originally raced in France and was a winner of two races including an easy 3 length winner of a 1m 2F Handicap where she postmarked 73.

She arrived in Britain with Tom Clover and ran 7 times but didn’t win for him, however she still postmarked over 70 four times (70, 72, 74 and 78).

She is a hold up horse but with connections getting impatient for a win they tried her in blinkers from the front, but she didn’t enjoy the experience, fading early on.

Rue De La Gaite was sold on, moving to Katie Scots yard and she has been given two runs. The first over 1m 4F which is too far for the horse but will have blown a few cobwebs away after a 60 day break. The second was slightly disappointing as it was over a suitable 1m 2F, which the horse should have enjoyed, but he was never in a threatening position.

I’m prepared to forgive that ride as Katie Scott has brought him back to 1 mile which is within his compass and her yard is in sparkling recent form with 3 wins from her last 4 runs.

This bodes well for Rue De La Gaite chances today as her mark is down to just 59 and she can drop in to a (0-60) Class 6 handicap for the first time after operating in Class 4 & 5’s previously. If she can reproduce one of her positive 70+ efforts she will win, or worst case place.

Jack Garrity is a positive jockey booking and at 28/1 with Skybet who offer 5 places in this 14 runner affair he looks a rock solid each way bet.

She still looks value at 16/1.

Loch Long – 5.20 Newcastle – 1m 2F Handicap – 25/1 Boyles – 4 Places – 1 Point Each Way.

Three runs ago Loch Long ran one of his best races over course and distance when finishing second off a mark of 50 to Masque of Anarchy who has gone on to win again.

Loch Long’s form has subsequently gone the wrong way the last twice, he dropped back to a mile and did too much early, fading. Then over 1m 1F on good to firm he didn’t seem to let himself down on the fast ground.

He returns to Newcastle today over his optimum 1m 2F and will enjoy being back on the tapeta surface, but what could make a big difference is the jockey, Shane Gray. He is Ann Duffield’s go to strike jockey and they have teamed up very well this year, especially over the last two months.

Shane replaces a young apprentice, who is still learning her trade, so I see this as a very good switch.

At 25/1 with Boyles, who offer 4 places and BOG in this 14 runner event he is a good value bet and I recommend 1 point each way.

He still looks value at 16/1.
