Hi
Please see my three tips for Monday
Koropick –7.00 Newcastle – 5F Handicap – 33/1 Bet365 – 1 Point Each Way.
I have put up Koropick before this season as he is exceptionally well handicapped and will win one soon. He is now down to a mark of just 60 from a high 109
Please read my previous write up in italics below for more background information.
Koropick is down to his first ever class 6 event today which is incredible considering he won a Group 3 contest at this very track.
I have been waiting for Koropick to return to Newcastle’s all weather as he acts so well here and in this lowest class of flat racing, he must have a good chance of being involved.
Conor Beasley is also an excellent jockey booking
At 33/1 with Bet365 we have to get involved and I recommend 1 point each way. Please go with a best odds guaranteed bookmaker as this stables horses tend to drift before the off.
He is still value at 12/1.
Koropick – 3.27 Beverley – 5F Handicap – 33/1 Bet365 – 1.5 Points Each Way
Koropick has a fascinating profile, he is 7 years old and as a younger horse showed himself to be a proper Group Class performer.
As a 2 year old he won his 6F maiden and went on to compete in Group 1, 2 & 3 sprints postmarking a high of 106.
He progressed as a 3 year old and finished 2nd to the mighty Bataash over 5F, postmarking 110. He peaked with a Group 3 success at Newcastle where he postmarked 113.
Koropick was retired to stud for the next 2 years but returned to the track last year and was clearly not fit, finishing last both times in big Saturday Handicaps.
This season he has had two runs, his first at 300/1 in a handicap where he again finished last, but on his latest start over 5F, going off at 125/1 he took a step forward and travelled well in behind and made a move 2F to challenge, but his run flattened out.
I feel from a fitness and wellbeing angle he is coming to the boil and as a three year old he certainly needed a run or two to hit his peak form.
Koropick’s best form was over 6F and ideally, he would have been stepped up, but he remains at 5F and thankfully he runs at Beverley’s stiff 5F course which is bound to suit him.
Koropick has dropped down the weights from a high of 109, to just 73 today. Now he is fit for the first time since his 3 year old campaign he will find this class 4 handicap the easiest assignment of his whole career and must have a big chance.
At 33/1 with Bet365 he looks a strong bet and I recommend 1.5 points each way.
He is still value at 16/1.
Jems Bond – 8.00 Newcastle – 7F Handicap – 16/1 Paddy Power – 1 Point Each Way
Jems Bond seems to reserve his best for Newcastle’s all weather and has twice placed for us at nice prices.
After a lesser run last time out at Redcar he returns again to Newcastle off a very fair mark of 55 (he won off 60 last year) and must be in with an excellent chance of winning or placing.
At 16/1 with Paddy Power – 4 places he is a rock solid each way play.
He is still value at 8/1.
Please read my previous write up for more back ground info:
Jems Bond – 8.07 Newcastle – 7F Handicap Hurdle – 12/1 Paddy Power –1 Point Each Way.
I put up Jems Bond back in May where he returned to Newcastle’s 6F sprint track and ran an extraordinary race, rearing at the start losing 10 lengths but still staying on through the field to only be beaten a length.
That was off a mark of 58 and he didn’t go on after this. He stayed on from the rear in another 6F event at Carlisle, before stepping up to a 1 mile, where he didn’t see out the trip.
On his latest start they put the blinkers on and went from the front over 7F, but he faded. The horse was just too lit up that day, so I’m really glad they have taken off the headgear and dropped Jems Bond back to this 7F trip.
Running over 7F without head gear might be exactly what Jems Bond needs (or a strongly run 6F), but what we do know is that he really likes Newcastle’s straight course and the tapeta surface.
Jems Bond runs off 54 today, so he looks on the right side of the handicapper and at 12/1 with Paddy Power, who offer 4 places, we are getting a great price on a horse that should really be a 7/1 shot.
I therefore recommend 1 point each way.
Fennaan – 7.30 Newcastle – 1 Mile Handicap – 4/1 Bet365 – 2 point win.
Fennaan was originally trained by John Gosden and won an all-weather handicap off 90.
He was sold on and has been in Phil Makin’s stable this season and it very much looked like they were bringing him along slowly and happy to see him get a few pounds off his back.
Fennaan is now down to 66 and he showed eye catching form last time out, back on the all-weather where his jockey didn’t give him the best of rides, waiting for a gap to appear until well into the final furlong when it was far too late.
He is well handicapped and looks in form now, so we don’t get a juicy price, but the 4/1 still looks decent. I see him as a 3/1 shot in the race.
I therefore recommend a 2 point win with Bet365. Lets hope he drifts a little!
