Hi
Please see my three tipsfor today:
Peggyclare – 12.28 Leicester – 2 Mile Handicap Chase – 40/1 888 Coral Boyles – 4 Places.(50/1 Bet365/William Hill)
The 8 year old mare Peggyclare is relatively lightly raced just 10 times, mainly in Ireland and only shown modest form to date with a postmark high of 90 (Irish – equivalent to circa 100 in UK)
She moved to the small yard of Ben Lund who ran him twice over hurdles before Peggyclare making her chasing debut on her latest star.
She was tailed off over 2m 5F, but that doesn’t tell the whole story as she made the running and jumped bold and brave before tiring.
Peggyclare is a keen sort and she just burnt herself out over that 2m 5F trip, but a return to the 2 mile minimum gives her a great chance of seeing it out.
On the evidence of her latest chase jumping she will rate much higher in that sphere so I’m happy to advise 1 point each way at 50/1 – 4 places. Please note that’s with 888 Coral and Boyles, but you can get 50s with Bet365 and William Hill.
She is still value at 25/1.
Sigurd – 1.25 Catterick – 3m1F Handicap Chase – 17/2 Sky Coral BetfairSportsbook (12/1 Bet365)
There is a simple case here for Sigurd, he won the race last year.
He seems to relish Catterick’s tight left handed track as he has bolted up twice here.
The forecast rain this morning will ease the ground to an ideal soft and with Brian Hughes back on board he looks to have a rock solid chance.
At 17/2 with Sky, Coral and Boyles I’m recommending 1 point each way.
Please note you can get 12/1 with Bet365.
He is still value at 7/1.
Turning Gold 2.00 Catterick – 2m 3F Handicap Hurdle – 25/1 Betfair Sportsbook Coral Boyles – 4 placed BOG – 1 point each way
I put up Turning Gold last time out on his seasonal debut but he blew up badly. Please read my previous write up for reference.
He will have stripped fitter for that last run so I’m very much prepared to give him another chance.
He is 25/1 with and I strongly recommend you take a best odds guaranteed price as he is likely to drift.
He is still value at 16/1.
Turning Gold – 3.20 Haydock – 2m 3.5F Handicap Hurdle – 150/1 Paddy Power, Betfair Sportsbook, Betfred, BetVictor – 5 places – 1 Point Each Way.
The 8 year old Turning Gold was previously trained by Sir Mark Prescott and Nigel Twiston Davis before moving to Robert Bevis’ yard in 2020.
He showed good form on the flat winning two over middle distances and peaking at a postmark of 83. Before being victorious in a further two hurdles races, including a handicap off a mark of 120 (postmark peak of 132).
Turning Gold has a real liking to Haydock and soft ground (including 1 win) and so it’s really interesting now he returns under ideal conditions.
He developed a breathing problem and started to wear a tongue tie in 2019, but it’s been absent for his last two runs (where he ran badly for Robert Bevis).
The tongue tie returns today and I’m going to take a chance that Bevis has Turning Gold fit enough for his seasonal debut.
Turning Gold is down to 16lb since he joined Robert Bevis and gets to run off 116, some 4lb below his last winning mark. That gives him a good chance today and at 150/1 with Paddy Power, Betfred, BetVictor and Betfair we have to get involved.
I recommend 1 point each way, he is still value at 33/1.
