Hanbury Racing – 7 October 2021

Hi,

Please see my two tips for Thursday’s racing:

Secret Wizard – 2.55 Thurles – 1 Mile Handicap – 33/1 Boyles – 4 Places – 1 point Each Way.

I have put up Secret Wizard the last twice, please see the two previous write ups below (Dundalk and Gowran Park)

The significant difference today is coming back in trip to a 1 mile. Secret Wizard has won at this trip, whereas before he was swallowed up in the final furlong over 1m 2F.

He is 7lb lower than his last run where he had to run off 52 and was only beaten 7 lengths. Secret Wizard is so well handicapped on old form and with the trainers daughter taking off 10lb he must have a major chance today.

I’m hoping Ciara Flynn goes off in front again and tries to make all. Over this shorter trip they have a very strong chance.

Secret Wizard looks a great bet at 33/1 with Boyles who go four places and BOG.

He still looks value at 20/1.

Secret Wizard – 8.15 Dundalk 1m 2F Handicap – 25/1 Bet365 – 1 Point Each Way.

I put up Secret Wizard in July and he led, going well clear before fading in the final furlong to finish fifth of 14 runners.

His young 10lb claiming jockey, the Trainers daughter just went a shade too hard in the early stages and was 15 lengths clear at half way. She will have learnt a lot from that ride and I’m hoping from stall two draw today she gives Wizard another positive ride from the front but judges the fractions slightly better this time!

At 25/1 he looks a cracking each way bet, and we have to get involved.

I’m recommending one point each way at 25/1 with Bet365.

He is still value at 16/1.

Secret Wizard – 5.45 Gowran Park – 1m 1.5F Handicap  – 40/1 Boylesports – 4 places – 1 Point Each Way.

The 8 year old Secret Wizard is a winner of five races off marks between 73 to 84.

His wins have been over one mile, but he has raced consistently over 1m 2.5F, placing numerous times off marks in the 70’s.

Secret Wizard lost his form last year and plummeted down the ratings, he is now trained by Paul Flynn and his daughter Ciara, who is a 10lb claimer, has been gaining experience on him this season.

Secret Wizard is running off the basement mark of 45 today, so with Ciara’s claim gets in here off just 35, so looks massively well handicapped.

I like him today as he looks to be running into form. His latest start was in a claimer where he was disadvantaged at the weights by the claiming conditions so ran well to finish sixth place only losing by 4 lengths.

A replication of that run in this handicap would give him a chance of victory and if he could slightly improve, then could win this decisively.

At 40/1 with Boylesports he looks far too big, and I therefore recommend 1 point each way.

He is still value at 20/1.

Ezanak – 4.55 Ayr – 1m 5F Handicap – 66/1 Bet 365 – 1 Point Each Way.

Ezanak is a winner of three races and significantly two of them have been at Ayr.

Indeed Ezanak has only ever run twice at Ayr and twice been a winner. Both of which are over today’s trip.

His other win was at Beverley on good to soft going, and with the ground currently forecast at soft, good to soft in places, so he should cope with the ground.

Ezanak won earlier this year at Ayr off 54 but returns hear off 52 so looks nicely handicapped for a hattrick at the track.

His last two runs have been poor, but that is no barrier to success as both times he won at Ayr his previous run was equally poor.

His trainer John Wainwright isn’t a prolific winner of races but is in form with a 1 winner from 2 starts in the last 14 days.

We can back Ezanak at 66/1 with Bet365 and we have to get involved at those odds and I recommend 1 point each way.

He is still value at 20/1.
