Please see my one tip for Wednesday:
Benkei – 3.20 Listowel – 3m Handicap Hurdle – 66/1 – Bet365 -1.5 Points Each Way.
Benkei might be 11 years old and past his very best, but he has been a fantastic horse for connections, improving on the flat to progress from a 60’s rated horse right up to 100 where he contested Group 3 level over 2 miles.
He was fairly decent over hurdles postmarking peaking 139 and winning over 2m 6F.
Benkei has run on the flat this year and I feel that was to get him fit for a jumps campaign. He had his first run over hurdles recently with an inexperienced jockey on board and I feel that was a sighter for today as it was over an inadequate 2 miles. Having said that it was still a fair run only going down by 9 lengths.
Today he steps right up to 3 miles and that’s much more suitable. He is down to a fair mark of 115 from a high of 132. So he nicely fairly handicapped, even allowing for his age.
He looks really interesting today, as that last run was only 4 days ago and back in the past he won off only a two day gap, so enjoys a quick turnaround.
The icing on the cake is an added tongue tie and our magic apprentice jockey Jack Foley whop takes off his 7lb.
I can’t believe they have priced him up at 66/1 with Bet365 and I recommend 1.5 points each way.
He is still value at 16/1.
