Hanbury Racing Tips – 24 July 2021

Ballycommon – 5.35 York – 7F Handicap – 40/1 Bet365 – 1 Point Each Way.

The 3 year old Ballycommon won on his 2 year old debut postmarking 78 over 7F, he followed it up with a solid second run postmarking 77.

He was gelded over the winter and has returned this season with 3 below par runs over 1m 2F, where he has run too freely over the extended trip.

Ballycommon showed more over 1 mile, but still faded late on and a return to 7F today should be hugely beneficial to his chances.

He runs off a mark of 65, so looks nicely handicapped on his 2 year old form and at 40/1 with Bet365 looks too big.

I recommend 1 point each way.

He is still value at 20/1.

Kaeso – 4.45 Ascot – 7F Handicap  – 25/1 Boylesports – 1 point each way.

Kaeso is a winner of 8 races off marks from 56 to 92 over 6F and 7F’s and he looks nicely handicapped off 81 today. His best postmark being 106.

He really enjoys Ascot’s stiff straight 7F’s finishing second in the International Stakes at Royal Ascot off 95 and placing here three other times in big fields.

Kaeso hasn’t been in the best of form, but a return to this track and trip is bound to suit.

He runs in an amateur ladies race and has won twice with Hollie Doyle, so goes well for a female jockey.  Charlotte Mulhall looks a decent jockey with 2 wins from just 6 starts under rules.

At 25/1 with Bet365 he looks a decent each way play and I recommend 1 point each way.

He is still value at 16/1.

Secret Wizard – 5.45 Gowran Park – 1m 1.5F Handicap  – 40/1 Boylesports – 4 places – 1 Point Each Way.

The 8 year old Secret Wizard is a winner of 5 races off marks between 73 to 84.

His wins have been over 1 mile, but he has raced consistently over 1m 2.5F, placing numerous times off marks in the 70’s.

Secret Wizard lost his form last year and plummeted down the ratings, he is now trained by Paul Flynn and his daughter Ciara, who is a 10lb claimer, has been gaining experience on him this season.

Secret Wizard is running off the basement mark of 45 today, so with Ciara’s claim gets in here off just 35, so looks massively well handicapped.

I like him today as he looks to be running into form. His latest start was in a claimer where he was disadvantaged at the weights by the claiming conditions so ran well to finish 6th place only losing by 4 lengths.

A replication of that run in this handicap would give him a chance of victory and if he could slightly improve, then could win this decisively.

At 40/1 with Boylesports he looks far too big, and I therefore recommend 1 point each way.

He is still value at 20/1.
