Please see my two tips for Bank Holiday Monday:
Tango Theatre – 2.45 Downpatrick – 2m 5F Handicap Hurdle – 25/1 Paddy Power/Betfred – 1 Point Each Way – 4 places.
Tango Theatre is a winning 3 mile point to pointer and came under rules in late 2020, he has been brought along slowly by John Mc Connell, so much so that the stewards got involved when he was very tenderly ridden by an apprentice!
As a consequence he has become very nicely handicapped and after a couple of nice runs over 2 miles he steps up to a much more suitable 2m 5F with Chris Hayes in the saddle.
These two paired up recently for the same owner to win comfortably and at the price of 33/1 with Paddy Power we have to get involved.
He still looks value at 14/1.
I recommend 1 point each way.
Tonkinese – 1.40 Downpatrick – 2m 3F Handicap Hurdle – 20/1 Paddy Power – 1 point each way.
Tonkinese was a good flat horse peaking at 96 over 1m 4F to 2miles.
He switched to hurdles and ran over an inadequate 2 miles twice and only showed his first bit of form when stepped up to 2m 4F, where he postmarked 96.
He went into handicaps and has been a little disappointing, but this has generally been over 2 miles and had him my tracker to back when stepped up in trip.
Well today’s the day he moves up to a more suitable trip of 2m 3F and he like a right handed undulating track and quick ground, so it looks positive for a better run today.
At 20/1 with Paddy Power he looks to big, especially considering his hurdle mark is 93 and his flat is still 80 (was higher).
I therefore recommend 1 point each way with Paddy Power who offer 4 places.
He still looks value at 14/1.
