I have any early pick for tomorrow:
Star Citizen – 1.50 Ayr – 5F Handicap – 18/1 Skybet – 1.5 Points Each Way.
With the weather forecast showing plenty of rain overnight and tomorrow, the current good/soft ground will change to a minimum of soft going.
This is bad news for all the market leaders as Koropick, Rory and Glorious Rio have no form on soft going. I put up Koropick last time at 50/1 and he ran well to finish 3rd for us, but with no form in soft we have to pass him by. My fingers are crossed that he flops here, and connections take him to Newcastle’s all weather, then we will have a max bet on him!!
It’s a different story for connections of Star Citizen who will be rubbing there hands as all his best form is in soft ground. He also loves Ayr with a number of good runs, including a win over todays trip last year off a mark of 54.
He has been in fair form without troubling the judge this year, except for the only time he encountered soft ground where he only lost by a length off a mark of 53.
Star Citizen is just one of those horses that need soft to be at his best, so the fact he now gets his ground off a mark of just 48 gives him an excellent chance of victory.
With the market pricing horses based upon on current form without any regard for the horses ability to cope with the soft going we can really take advantage of the 18/1 available on Star Citizen.
I therefore recommend 1.5 points each way with Skybet.
He is still value at 10/1.
