Yesterdays 12/1 tip MC Muldoon finished 2nd,.
We are giving all five of Hanbury’s Racing Tips away, including two in the Irish Grand National.
Good luck!
Irish Grand National – 5.00 Fairyhouse – 3m 5F Handicap Chase
Opposites Attract – 40/1 Bet365 – 1 point each way. BOG.
Freewheeling Dylan – 150/1 Paddy Power/ Betfair Sportsbook – 1 point each way – 6 places.
As you would expect this is an uber competitive field with plenty of chances. You have a mixture of relatively unexposed novice chasers plus your seasoned campaigners, many who have been laid out for the event.
Favourite is the novice, Latest Exhibition, who runs off 153 and he has strong form lines with Monkfish. But it’s another form line that may be the key to solving this puzzle. Back in October Latest Exhibition ran in a novice chase off level weights and managed a hard fought win from Opposites Attract who was 2.5 lengths back in 3rd and Run Wild Fred who finished a 4 length 4th.
Run Wild Fred reopposes and is a well fancied 10/1 shot, off a mark of 140, so gets a 13lb pull for 4 lengths, but Opposites Attract is even more interesting as he gets in here off 135, and is 18lb better off with the favourite Latest Exhibition, for just 2.5 lengths. He is also 5lb better off with Run Wild Fred and beat him by 1.5 lengths.
Opposites Attract’s connections have also said this big galloping type will prefer a faster surface and a longer trip, so todays conditions should really suit. He has been in good form and was lucky not to go up in the handicap from his 135 after coming second in a conditions race where he postmarked 147 last time out.
With such good form claims I find it amazing that Opposites Attract can be backed at a whooping 40/1 with Bet365. This is incredible value and cannot be missed. I therefore recommend 1 point each way – 5 places.
The other I like at a massive price is Freewheelin Dylan who can be backed at 150/1. He won the Irish Midlands National last summer off a mark of 135 and he gets in here off just 137. He performed below par after falling over hurdles and was given a break over the winter as he dislikes soft ground. He comes here after 173 days off and that is a real positive for Freewheelin Dylan as he goes really well when fresh. Connections have laid him out for this after his Midlands National win last year and off bottom weight, on his favoured quick ground this front runner is no forlorn hope.
I therefore recommend 1 point each way at 150/1 with Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook – 6 places guaranteed.
Final List – 1.00 Chepstow – 2m 3.5F Handicap Hurdle – 66/1 Skybet – 5 places – 1 point each way.
I put up Final List last time in first time blinkers, and on better ground. Unfortunately, there was unexpected rain at the track that blunted his chances. However he still ran well enough, leading until fading half a mile out.
Well, today he is coming back from 3 miles to 2m 4Fm which will help. But more importantly is the good ground which will really suit him.
He has another 5lb taken off his mark and with the very good 3lb claimer Ben Jones taking the ride he has an awful lot to like about him.
He retains the blinkers and at 66/1 with Skybet – 5 places we have to give him another chance, I therefore recommend 1 point each way.
Please see my previous write up on Final List for more background on his chances:
Final List – 4.12 Taunton – 3 Mile Handicap Hurdle – 66/1 Boyles – 4 places – 1 point each way.
Final List was a fair horse over in Ireland for Gordon Elliot’s yard. Winning and placing over hurdles and postmarking an Irish high of 132 (circa UK 138). He wasn’t as good over chases and remains a maiden in that sphere.
His chasing career and form rather tailed off at the start of 2020 and the powerful Giggingstown Stud owners sold him on.
The new connections have gone slowly with him and run the first four starts over hurdles, before going last time over chases. He was pulled up on his latest start, which wasn’t surprising as he was almost wiped out at the first after jumping sketchily and being broadsided by another horse.
He has run primarily on soft heavy this year, which hasn’t suited him, and this is borne out by his best run being his second start for the yard on good ground when he wasn’t properly fit.
Today he will enjoy the better ground and also reverting back to hurdles. This coincides with blinkers going on for the very first time. With his handicap mark down to 107 he is very nicely handicapped and if he returns to form, he has a great chance.
The market have completely priced him up wrong at 66/1 and we can take advantage.
I therefore recommend 1 point each way with Boyle sports who offer 4 places and best odds guaranteed.
Tiger Sam – 4.15 Chepstow – 3m Handicap Chase – 66/1 1 point each way.
The 11 year old Tiger Sam is in the veteran stage of his career. He was originally based in Ireland were he won a Handicap Chase over 3 miles at Punchestown off a mark of 99.
He has run the last two years in point to points, where he has won with today’s 7lb claimer jockey, Heidi Stevens on board.
He has run three times under rules this season, pulling up twice on unsuitable soft/heavy ground and showed more over an inadequate trip of 2m 5F. That last run was over hurdles, but today he goes back over chases and steps up to his best trip of 3 miles. This coincides with running on his preferred good ground, and off a basement handicap mark of 77 he could easily win this.
At 66.1 with Bet365 I’m recommending 1 point each way.
Lisronagh Stone – 5.25 Plumpton – 3m Handicap Chase – 80/1 Paddy Power – 1 point each way.
Lisronagh Stone has been out of form this season, running badly on unsuitable heavy ground, then developing a breathing problem that has needed a tongue tie on his last start.
He has been running over shorter trips but today this 3m 1F is much more to his liking as he is a winning 3 mile Point to Pointer. That win was on good ground, so a return to this fast surface could easily see him bounce back to form.
His best form under riles is at today’s Plumpton track and is chucked in on his best form. At 80/1 with Paddy Power, I recommend 1 point each way
